Attack victim in hospital

A MAN is in hospital following an attack outside a pub.

The 20-year-old victim suffered serious head injuries after an attack outside the Red Lion pub, in Burnhope Way, in Peterlee.

The incident, which involved a number of people, happened in the early hours of Saturday, March 26.

The man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital but discharged himself after treatment.

But his condition deteriorated and he was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, on Tuesday.

His condition is described as stable but serious.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the pub on Friday, March 25, or in the early hours of Saturday, March 26.
