A DAD who was victim of a late-night attack has still not regained consciousness more than a week later.
Andrew Ford, 34, remains in hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted in Blackhall in the early hours of Tuesday morning last week.
Police were called to Second Street in Blackhall shortly after 12.30am on the morning of Tuesday, June 5, following reports of a disturbance.
When officers arrived they found the dad of two lying on the living room floor inside his house, unconscious and bleeding from his mouth.
He was taken by ambulance to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he was found to have suffered serious head injuries.
So far Mr Ford, the dad of two young children, a boy and girl, has not regained consciousness and he remains in a critical condition.
Two men, aged 30 and 32, were arrested on the night and have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
On Monday this week police arrested a third man, aged 20, in connection with the incident.
Christopher Henry Hilton, 20, has been charged with wounding with intent on Mr Ford and he appeared before Peterlee magistrates.
Hilton, from Brandlings Way, in Blackhall, was remanded in custody to appear next week at Durham Crown Court.
Police say inquiries are continuing and further arrests are likely.
