Attempted robbery appeal

A WOULD-BE robber tried to grab a mobile phone from a young woman as she walked through a Hartlepool park.

The 18-year-old had her phone in her hand in Burn Valley Park when she was approached by a man on Wednesday afternoon.

He tried to grab the phone and attempted to force it from her grasp.

But he failed to take the phone and ran off.

The attempted robbery happened between 1pm and 2pm.

The man is described as white, aged around 19, about 6ft-tall and thin build.

He was wearing a hooded top which was green at the front and grey at the back with dark coloured bottoms.

He was carrying a bag which is believed to be a black rucksack.

Witnesses or anyone who might know the identity of the suspect should contact Detective Constable Michael Matthews, of Hartlepool CID, on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
