LITTLE Bailey Muncaster was the perfect Christmas present for his loving family.
Bailey made his introduction into the world at around 4pm yesterday, a day after he was due.
Mum Stephanie Dugdale, 21, was rushed into the University Hospital of Hartlepool earlier in the day with pains, but says she didn’t expect to deliver on Christmas Day.
She went into labour at around 3pm.
Stephanie and partner Michael Muncaster, 27, described little Bailey as the “perfect Christmas gift .”
Weighing in at 6lb 13oz, he was the first baby to be born in the hospital’s birthing centre on the big day.
Stephanie, who lives in Fairburn Road, Peterlee, and is also mum to Lacey Muncaster, one, said: “He’s absolutely beautiful.
“Next year is going to be very, very special, Christmas Day and Bailey’s first birthday.”
Stephanie, who is currently unemployed, said she was looking forward to a relaxing few days at home after the birth.
She added: “It’s not really how you expect to be spending Christmas Day, I’ve definitely never had a Christmas like this before.
“I had no idea when Bailey was going to come.
“Obviously with me being due on Christmas Eve we did talk about the chances of him coming along on Christmas Day, but for some reason I didn’t really expect it.
“He’s the perfect gift.”
Michael, who is also unemployed, spent the day at Stephanie’s side in hospital yesterday.
Stephanie added: “We are so proud, it’s definitely been a Christmas Day we will never forget.”
