A CHARITY band night will help an adventurous student scale one of the highest mountains in the world.

Gemma Askew, 20, from Hartlepool, is gearing up to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, in east Africa, later this year.

She has organised a band night at the Rovers Quoit Club, Grainger Street, Hartlepool, on Friday, April 15.

Bands Mandown, Behind Human Eyes and Sax Fiend will play and there will be food and a raffle.

There is no age limit and everyone is welcome.

Gemma, studying at York University, needs to raise £2,440 to secure her place on the trip.

It will go to charity Childreach International which works to improve child welfare, education and protection in developing countries.

The band night takes place from 7.30pm to 11.30pm and tickets are £3.
