Bands line up for folk festival

BIG names from the folk music world will be in the region for a popular festival.

The sixth annual Sedgefield Folk Festival takes place next month and sees a host of different groups perform in the village.

The event takes place between Friday, September 2 to Sunday, September 4, at venues around the village. The John Wrightson Band, Anna Shannon and the London Philharmonic Skiffle Orchestra will perform on the Friday night.

Highlights on Saturday afternoon include Hartlepool group The Young ’Uns, French singer Flossy and spoon workshops led by world champion Bert Draycot.

Then on the night the parish hall will play host to the Billy Mitchell Band featuring the lead singer from Lindisfarne and the Corn Shed Sisters.

Everything takes place at the parish hall, St Edmund’s Church, Ceddesfeld Hall and outdoors, with weekend tickets costing £30.
