DRINKERS are being urged to help raise cash for a good cause when a popular bar hosts a fundraiser next week.

The Smallcrafts bar, off Middleton Road near Hartlepool marina, is holding a fun night in aid of Help the Heroes next week.

Bar manager Christine Brigham has organised the event along with head barmaid Debbie Stansil.

Christine said: “It should be a good night, we have been given loads of raffle prizes from local businesses so we’ll be pestering people to buy all the tickets.

“We’ll have a karaoke on and people will pay a donation to get up and sing, and the whole aim is to raise as much money as we possibly can.

“Help the Heroes is a great cause, they are out there fighting for our country and in my opinion they don’t always get the help they should.

“Hopefully we can help them out by having a good night and raising money at the same time.”

Sergeant Norman Wright, of the 2nd Yorkshire Regiment, called into the bar to help promote the event, which takes place on Thursday, October 13.

Tickets, priced £3, are available from behind the bar.
