KEEN performers are being urged to join a town stage society ahead of the new term.
Hartlepool Stage Society recently moved into new premises at Throston Community Centre, in Glamorgan Grove, in Hartlepool.
The group will gather again on Tuesday, September 4, for the new term after a break, and people with an interest or passion in performing are being encouraged to go along and join in.
The society is particularly on the lookout for new male members. With just four on the books at the minute, it makes it difficult when it comes to productions.
Stage Society chairwoman Jill Jackson said: “We are looking for new male members but we are appealing to everyone who is interested to come along and join us.
“People don’t need to have experience and they don’t need to be dancers or singers.
“It’s for anyone who has a passion for acting on stage or who is interested in getting involved.
“It’s also a chance to meet new people and socialise.”
The society recently relaunched its junior section and youngsters aged from 10 can also get involved.
The group will start preparing for its first production, due to take place in November. It will involve snippets from various musicals, but members are also pitching ideas for future productions.
Jill, 50, who works for the NHS and lives in Newquay Close, Hartlepool, added: “It’s quite an exciting time for us at the minute, we have a lot going on.
“Hopefully we will get a good response and get some new members along.
“It’s excellent to have the junior section opening again so it’s a plea to youngsters to come along and get involved as well.”
The stage society will meet at Throston Community Centre on Tuesday, September 4, from 7.30pm-9.30pm.
