A STAGE group is getting ready to bring a television show to a town theatre.
Hartlepool Stage Society is planning to stage a musical version of the television show Bad Girls. The final production will be held at the Town Hall Theatre in Raby Road, Hartlepool, from Wednesday, November 2, to Thursday, November 4.
In the meantime, rehearsals have started and are being held each Tuesday at the society hall in Osborne Road, Hartlepool, beginning at 7.30pm.
Chairman Jill Jackson said: “Members have to be over 16 years old. This is a musical based on the television series and is a first for our region. The show is really funny and has some fabulous songs.
“It is a female show and anybody interested in taking part is welcome to come along to our rehearsal on Tuesday, June 7, at 7.30pm.”
Auditions are planned on Sunday, July 10.
Jill added: “We are rehearsing pieces for auditions and chorus numbers for everyone.
“There is plenty of laughter but due to the nature of the show, set in a women’s prison, some of the content is quite sensitive and also there is some swearing in it in order to keep it real.
“This is the first time this musical will have been performed in Hartlepool and I am sure that lots of musical theatre lovers will enjoy it immensely.
“There is lots of dancing, singing and acting involved and we would love to see some new members coming along to take part.”
