Better access to services

A NEW £2.7m one-stop centre is coming to a town centre as part of regeneration plans.

Billingham is to get the new customer service centre giving them access to a range of facilities.

Detailed designs are being developed for the building on the site of the former Billingham Art Gallery and Council offices.

It will bring together a library, customer service facilities for Stockton Borough Council and Tristar Homes plus office space for Billingham Town Council all under one roof.

Subject to consultation, people will be able to start using the improved facilities in two years’ time.

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: “There is so much happening to help improve Billingham Town Centre and it is really exciting to see these plans are now progressing rapidly.

“The new customer service centre will make a real difference to people living in Billingham. It will save them time and mean they can access the facilities and services they need in comfortable and high quality surroundings.”

It is just one of a series of major regeneration projects happening in Billingham.

There are plans to create an Integrated Health Centre at Billingham Health Centre, on Queensway. to improve access to health facilities.
