A MUM who celebrates her 70th birthday and golden wedding anniversary this year was given another reason to have a smile on her face when she was told she won a Mail-backed competition.
Betty Smith, 69, won a Smile Makeover after winning a Mother’s Day competition in the Mail that was run by Elliott McCarthy Dental Care.
The Billingham mum was nominated by her daughter, Wendy, as a worthy winner of the competition as not only does her husband suffer from Parkinson’s disease, she has also helped with the bringing up of her grandson, who has a neuroligical condition, as her daughter suffered from a brain haemorrhage.
Pauline McCarthy, principal dentist at Elliott McCarthy Dental Care, said: “We were blown away with the number and standard of entries that we received for the competition and selecting a winner was such a difficult decision as there were so many worthy candidates.
“But we were really touched by Betty’s story and the fact that she has two big events this year meant that we were delighted to help celebrate these with a smile on her face.”
In addition to Betty’s smile makeover, she will also receive a signature colour service, luxurious Kerastase treatment, cut and style courtesy of Hooker & Young and Wynard and Skincare & Cosmetics at Estee Lauder, House of Fraser, Middlesbrough.
