A GROUP of musicians will celebrate their 25th anniversary with a rocking afternoon of music this weekend.

Hartlepool big band Musicians Unlimited are inviting music lovers to join them for the celebration which takes place at The Park Inn pub tomorrow.

They are made up of around 20 regular musicians and play swing-era music from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Glen Miller and Stan Kenton.

Musicians Unlimited currently perform every Sunday at the Park Road pub between noon and 3pm.

But Sunday is set to offer fans something a little special for their Big Band bash.

Starting from 1pm, the afternoon will feature four sets by Musicians Unlimited, plus many guests and food.

The band was founded in 1989 to be an informal rehearsal band with the aim of involving as many local musicians as possible.

After around two years of rehearsing, the band began performing in public and have gone from strength to strength.

Band leader Mick Donnelly said: “I am grateful to the audiences who fill our venues, and have been so generous with their encouragement and support over the years.”

Tickets are £8 from The Park Inn.
