A MUCH-LOVED comedienne was back in town to celebrate her birthday ahead of the opening of her own bar in Benidorm.

Crissy Rock, who lives in Peterlee, turned 55 at the end of last month and celebrated the occasion by gathering with her family and friends at the Grand Hotel, in Swainson Street, in the town.

And after the celebrations, the former I’m A Celebrity star jetted out to Benidorm where a new bar, Crissy Rocks, was officially opened.

Crissy is well-known for featuring in the ITV hit show Benidorm and is a big attraction on her visits to the popular holiday spot.

Crissy said: “It’s lovely to have my own bar in Benidorm even though I spend much of my time at home in this area.

“Benidorm was a fantastic friend to me when I was struggling to make my mark in the early days and I’ll never forget that and the fans who were fantastic and backed me before the Benidorm series on the TV.

“They will always be a part of me and now with the new bar I will have a in the place 52 weeks of the year.

“The people from this region have been brilliant to me as well and it will be great to see them over there in my bar, I’ll just have to make sure none of them try to sneak in with a bottle of vodka in their bags.”

Crissy added: “I would like to also thank all of the team at the Grand Hotel for making my 21st birthday plus tax so memorable.

“It was a fantastic night with lots of my family and friends coming to Hartlepool to join me.”
