POLICE have revealed that a bladed weapon was used in an alleged attempted murder on a Hartlepool housing estate.

Officers investigating the alleged incident in Eskdale Road, in the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool, say a bladed-type weapon was used in the attack which left a 26-year-old man with head injuries.

A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on bail pending further inquiries, along with a 25-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police were called to the street at 12.20am on Sunday, where the victim had suffered a wound to his head.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, for treatment to the injuries which were “not life-threatening”, a Cleveland Police spokeswoman said.

The man was released from hospital yesterday.

The spokeswoman today issued an appeal for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
