THE organiser of a Christmas Day spread for the needy or lonely is urging residents to book their place early.
Rob Swan, who runs the annual festive feast, also needs someone to loan out a mini-bus with disabled wheelchair access for the big event.
The 51-year-old, who lives in the Dyke House area of Hartlepool, said this year diners can expect a slap-up four course meal with all the trimmings.
This includes soup for starter, a Christmas meal with turkey, ham, and vegetables, Christmas pudding for desert, followed by coffee and mince pies.
He said: “We’re really looking forward to it once again this year. We gets people from all walks of life including people who simply can’t afford it, or for the elderly, lonely, or those who don’t have the facilities to cook for themselves. “We also have a few families coming and single mums, so we have Santa Claus coming.”
“We have a core of volunteers who do it regularly – they tend to want to come back because it’s such a fantastic day. We would like to appeal for a minibus with wheelchair access this year and we have a driver who is fully qualified.”
Anyone who would like a meal or who can loan out a minibus should telephone Rob on (01429) 262641.
