COUNCILLORS agreed to major plans to re-draw and re-name ward boundaries.
Hartlepool Borough Council currently has 47 councillors serving 17 wards. But proposals by the independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) has recommended the number of councillors be cut to 33, representing 11 wards.
There would be three councillors in each ward across town.
The commission published its draft recommendations at the end of March and a 12-week period of public consultation was launched.
A meeting of the full council was held last night where councillors decided on their official response and agreed to write to the commission with their proposals.
They agreed that the proposed wards should be called Seaton Ward, Park and Villages Ward, Heritage Ward, Jesmond Ward, Hart Ward, De Bruce Ward, Jubilee Ward, Manor House Ward, Jackson Ward, Foggy Furze Ward, Middleton Ward and Burn Valley Ward.
