AN amateur boxing club is celebrating after winning a £1,000 makeover for its training base.
Tootill ABC won a Facebook competition held by confectionary giant Nestle.
The Trimdon Colliery-based club’s entry was selected by a panel of judges as the most original and compelling project.
The prize included all materials, labour and project management.
Club secretary and treasurer Michelle Robinson said: “The change is amazing.”
The award comes after the group was recognised in Durham Police Community Awards for their contribution to making the local community safe.
The group was set up in May 2010 in memory of Royal Marine David Tootill, 29, from Jasmine Crescent, in Trimdon Village, who was killed in a road smash on the C26 Harrap Road, near the village, in November 2008.
