Boy has bike stolen in park

A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was left shaken up after thugs snatched his bike from him when he rode through a park.

Police are investigating after the youngster was riding through Horden’s Welfare Park when he was approached by two other boys around the same age.

They asked him for a ride of his bike and when the boy refused, the pair callously grabbed the cycle from him before fleeing the scene.

Officers are trying to trace the blue and yellow British Eagle bike and those responsible for stealing it.

Sergeant Ian Dickinson, of Peterlee Police, said: “Thankfully the boy wasn’t hurt.

“However the incident left him frightened and shook up.”

The incident happened between 5.30pm and 6pm on Saturday, September 8.
