A TEENAGE girl was subjected to a sexual assault in a street.

Police are appealing for help in tracing a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault on the girl who was walking along a footpath to the rear of Cleveland Place, near Howletch Lane Primary School, in Peterlee.

She managed to fight off her attacker and fled from the scene at around 8.30pm on Thursday, March 15.

Police have now released an e-fit image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

They want to speak to a man described as being aged between 20 and 25, skinny and 6ft-tall.

He had a thin pale face which was marked with acne and at the time of the attack he was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a hooded black top which was pulled over his head.

Detective Constable Chris Fixter, of Durham Police, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are asking people to take a look at the e-fit in a bid to identify the attacker.

“This man has carried out serious attack on a vulnerable young girl and we are asking for anyone with any information to contact police.”
