POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a handbag was stolen from a car parked at a cemetery.
The blue Nissan Almera had been parked in Stranton Cemetery, in Hartlepool, while a woman visited a grave between 2pm and 2.40pm on Tuesday.
The victim realised her bag had been stolen when she returned to her car.
The bag is described as a black, square shoulder bag which contained various items including her purse and a quantity of cash.
PC Ralph Bainbridge, of Hartlepool Police, said: “The victim has been left shocked and distressed that someone could steal from her whilst visiting a grave.”
