A HOUSEBUILDING company has backed the search for Hartlepool’s biggest sporting heroes.

Town building firm Seneca Homes builds inspiring and quality affordable homes throughout the Tees and Durham areas.

Now, it has teamed up with the Hartlepool Mail in a search to find some of the most inspiring people in the Hartlepool area.

Bosses at Seneca have urged people to enter this year’s Sports Awards competition and make sure the nominees get the praise they deserve for their outstanding work in all fields of competition.

Sales co-ordinator Fay Garthwaite, from Seneca Homes, said: “The sporting people of Hartlepool show a commitment, desire and excellence which we admire.

“There are so many people in Hartlepool who deserve to be nominated for these awards but the only way that can happen is for people to put the names forward.

“We are proud to be associated with this competition and we look forward to reading the stories on the people who are nominated.”

We want to honour the people who make our town the envy of the country.

Over the years, Hartlepool has regularly produced winners in boxing, golf, swimming, athletics and lots more besides.

In fact, it doesn’t matter which sport you compete in – we want to hear from you all.

From the best in disabled sportspeople to grass roots performers, from coaches to teams – we want to honour them all.

Over the next few weeks, we shall be featuring stories on some of the nominations.

Then it’s over to the judges to draw up a shortlist before the glittering finale in October, which will be held at the Hardwick Hall Hotel.

There’s a long way to do before we get to that stage - and that means there’s plenty of time for you to come forward with your favourities.
