A TATTOOIST has been forced to close temporarily after a burglary saw thousands of pounds of equipment stolen from his shop.
Peterlee Police are appealing for information following a break-in at the Red Dragon Tattoo Studio, in Sunderland Road, Horden.
Owner Kevin Tulley, 51, said he has been forced to shut up shop for the time being as he counts the cost of the incident.
He added that 19 tattoo machines, of varying prices ranging from £200 to £450, were taken, along with two transformer power-packs, money, two cameras and a laptop and printer had been taken in the raid.
Mr Tulley, a dad-of-two and grandfather-of-four from Peterlee, said: “They got in through the back gate, on to the stairs of Horden Labour Club behind me, into the alleyway and then smashed a double glazed window to get in.
PC Andrea Wearmouth, who is investigating the incident, said: “We have put out an appeal to all other tattooists in the area to be on their guard if they are offered any such items for sale.
“We also ask members of the public to contact us.”
Anyone with information about the incident, said to have happened between 5pm on Tuesday, April 3 and 11am the following day, is asked to call Durham Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
