A GIFTED florist has seen her already-flourishing reputation bloom after emerging victorious from a national competition.

Rebecca Hough, who works at A Secret Garden florists, in Elwick Road, Hartlepool, claimed the prestigious Interflora Florist of the Future 2013 title after winning a tense final at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show.

She represented the north region in the competition final and beat off strong competition from six other florists from around the UK and Ireland to claim the top spot.

The 24-year-old consistently impressed the competition judges, finishing first in two of the four final pieces and claiming joint-second in another to seal her victory.

Rebecca’s latest success comes just over a month after she competed and claimed a silver flora in the Young Florist of the Year category at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower show, one of the world’s most top flower shows.

Rebecca, of Pennine Drive, in Peterlee, said: “After winning a silver at Chelsea Flower Show, I really began to believe in myself. It was a massive boost to my confidence.

“I’m really thrilled to win this, they will be over the moon back home.” Rhys Hughes, president of Interflora UK, who presented the award, said: “I’m immensely proud of all the finalists.”
