Award for car plant

Nissan’s Sunderland plant, which exports 80-per-cent of the vehicles it makes, has been awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for continued achievement in international trade.

Boss Kevin Fitzpatrick says a committed workforce is the reason the business has received the prestigious award.

Kevin Fitzpatrick, Nissan’s vice president for manufacturing in the UK, said: “The continued motivation, commitment and flexibility of the Sunderland plant workforce is the reason why we win these awards, combined with successful products and the ability to react to market demand.”
