A LIGHTING showroom is part of a bright future which is developing for an industrial estate.

Since opening in April, A & G Lighting Showroom, on the Longhill Industrial Estate, in Hartlepool, has enjoyed month-on-month sales increases.

A & G director Alan Harrison said: “The initial sales figures have been extremely encouraging, especially as this isn’t traditionally the busy time for lighting sales.

“We can put that down to word of mouth and customers passing on good feedback.”

A & G was set up in 2005 when Alan Harrison and business partner Greig Pinnell decided to go it alone after working for several years in the trade.

The business quickly established an extensive trade client base supplying the likes of the Psyche clothing store, in Middlesbrough, award-winning hairdressers Hooker & Young and Wynyard Hall and Golf Club.

Greig added: “People really like the fact it’s not a crowded showroom.

“We aimed to create somewhere with a homely feel that would show the lighting at its best.”

The A & G Lighting Showroom is one of a number of new retail businesses to open at the Longhill Industrial Estate and is next door to the new Sweet P’s garden centre.

Greig added: “This part of town is undergoing a bit of a facelift with the new retail businesses and it’s good that we can offer something different from other lighting showrooms.

“Some of our suppliers only tend to work with the likes of John Lewis and Fenwicks, but we worked hard to bring them on board and they fully support what we are doing here.”
