MORE than 150 jobs are on their way to Hartlepool through plans for a specialist new care home.

The new £5m Hart Lodge is being planned by specialist care provider Careline Lifestyles. They have appointed Gentoo Construction to build it.

It will mean more than 150 jobs, including nurses, support workers and occupational therapists.

Hart Lodge will provide residential and nursing care to adults who are suffering from brain injuries and complex learning and physical disabilities.

Careline Lifestyles chief executive, Rahul Sharma, said: “Following a competitive tendering process Gentoo Construction has been chosen to build our new Hart Lodge facility due to their extensive experience in this field and excellent reputation for delivering projects on time, high quality and in budget.

“Careline Lifestyles has a commitment to employing local people and are looking to create over 150 jobs once the facility is complete. There will also be the opportunity of further employment during the build phase which will enhance the local economy and support the regeneration of the area.”

Hart Lodge will support up to 46 people with 20 en-suite bedrooms, 15 one-bed apartments, three one-bed bungalows and four two-bed bungalows.

Facilities within the home will include a hydrotherapy pool, creative suite with interactive whiteboards, training kitchens, sensory rooms, café bars, and a sensory garden.

Gentoo Construction managing director, Allan Thompson, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to build Careline Lifestyle’s new state of the art facility. It is an exciting project and it fits perfectly with Gentoo’s Art of Living agenda. We are very much looking forward to growing our relationship with the Careline Lifestyles team.”
