A COLLEGE is offering free construction trade training to the unemployed.
East Durham College, in Willerby Grove, Peterlee, has announced that it has a number of places available on training courses in roofing, fitted interiors and tiling.
The training is free to anyone who is 19 or over and currently unemployed, and applicants don’t need to be from the east Durham area.
The courses will be run at the College’s brand new Technical Skills Academy in Palmer Road, on the South West Industrial Estate, in Peterlee.
Barbara Archer, from the academy, said: “The construction courses on offer are a diploma in roof tiling and slating, a diploma in wall and floor tiling and a diploma in fitted interiors, which covers kitchens and bathrooms. All the courses are at Level 2.
“The courses will start over the next couple of weeks and will run for between 20 and 26 weeks.
“The training will be for approximately 15 hours per week so will not affect anyone’s benefits.
“These courses will provide people with some great in-demand trade skills.”
The academy is an impressive 30,000 sq ft specialist training facility which was recently opened by the college to offer the latest in construction training across a number of trades.
There are only limited free spaces available.
