A DAD of two has launched a new business offering pet supplies.

Chris Butterfield, 41, has unveiled The little Pet Shop in Stockton Road, Hartlepool, and told how the project was a dream come true.

“It is something I have been wanting to do for a long time,” said the Housing Hartlepool caretaker who is married to Bronia, 34, and has two children Katie, 13, and Amy, 11.

Chris has opened the shop just yards from the family home in premises which used to be an antiques business and a former newsagent’s.

He said: “Bronia already ran her own cleaning business from home. I wanted to run a pet shop which we have now opened and Bronia is basing her business there now.”

The shop, which was opened by Coun Kaylee Sirs, stocks supplies and food for pets. Chris hopes to supply pets soon.

“We got the keys to the shop in June and it went from there,” he said.

“Trade was good when we first opened and we are waiting for word of mouth for it to really take off.

“Bronia’s business runs itself so she will run the pet shop while I am still at work.”

Chris is hoping the shop succesful enough for him run it full time.
