A design company boss was today revealed as the winner of a Hartlepool Mail-backed business challenge.
Castle Eden entrepreneur Ian Jobling won the If we can, you can competition and said he was “absolutely delighted”.
Ian runs Product Revolution, a product design and packaging development company formed last September.
Dad-of-two Ian previously worked in a £50,000-plus job in the product design trade but wanted to become his own boss. He said it was one of the best moves he has ever made.
He has now been named the Face of North East Entrepreneurship, winning £5,000 of business services.
Ian narrowly beat Julie Stout, who runs advertising and marketing agency JUSTOUT Marketing.
A record 6,000 votes were registered during the four-week finals.
Ian said: “I knew there was really stiff competition and I want to thank all those who voted for me.
“It is encouraging to have received such a high level of recognition from industry and business peers.
“Part of the company’s vision is to raise the profile of the North of England as a hot bed for creative talent in the UK and recruiting and utilising local talent is one of the ways we aim to do this.
“I am very proud to represent North East England and the Hartlepool Mail as a Face of Entrepreneurship and I look forward to inspiring others with my experiences of going into business.”
Runner-up Julie, of Peterlee, will become an ambassador for the If we can, you can campaign.
Carole Beverly, chief executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, which runs the challenge, said: “I am delighted for Ian and I offer my congratulations for being named as this year’s Face of Entrepreneurship.
“I would also like to say well done to Julie for making it to the final stages of the challenge.
“This year has been very competitive and to be chosen as a finalist is a credit to their business.”
