A close-knit engineering team have been crowned the Best New Business in the Tees Valley.

C&A Pumps and Engineering were presented with the accolade and a £1000 prize at the Best New Business Awards Tees Valley at Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium

The company, based at Rivergreen Business Centre in Hartlepool, also collected the Manufacturing Award for the second time.

Alan Roberts, Managing Director at C&A, said: “It’s always good to get recognition for what you do and there’s a lot of kudos involved in receiving a Best New Business Award.

“We have a great team and any success we have is down to them.

“We’re enjoying a growth period which has involved us moving to a larger unit and has meant we’ve been able to increase our capacity for assembly and repair.”

Colin Brown, who has organised the awards for the past 15 years, added: “It’s only right that we recognise and reward the achievements of new businesses and the enormous part they play in bringing about economic growth.”

The awards ceremony was attended by industry leaders and entrepreneurs from a wide range of sectors.

Previous winners, such as Guardian Marine Testing and game developers Double Eleven, have gone to enjoy global success.
