A retired nurse is putting her 30 years experience to great use by launching a business which helps cancer sufferers.

Tres Chic is opening at the Hartlepool Enterprise Centre in Brougham Terrace thanks to entrepreneur Sue Leonard, 62.

When I was retiring, I was thinking about what I could do. I still wanted to do something and thought this would be a great business for my nursing skills

Sue worked in the NHS for nearly 30 years, in the Hartlepool and North Tees areas. She was a rheumatology specialist nurse for 13 years and a nurse prescriber.

Now she is putting her skills to a new use with Tres Chic which has two main sections to the business.

One will be a wig salon where people can have bespoke wigs made for them.

Sue, who is from Hartlepool, has trained as a wig fitter. She said: “People will get a full consultation and measuring service and I can offer colour matching.”

Her hope is to help people who have suffered hair loss through illness, or through thinning.

She said her inspiration for Tres Chic came from helping someone who had cancer and who was losing their hair after having chemotherapy.

“When I was retiring, I was thinking about what I could do. I still wanted to do something and thought this would be a great business for my nursing skills.”

The other service provided by Tres Chic is an aesthetics salon where clients can get treatments such as lip enhancements and cheek augmentation.
