BOSSES at a major engineering firm are looking to recruit new members of staff to help manage its bustling order book.
SC Consulting Engineers (SCCE), which was formerly known as Simpson Coulson and Lees, is aiming to build on 46 years’ worth of experience working on major construction projects in the North East by employing five new members of staff.
The Billingham-based firm was originally created by former ICI engineers Dick Simpson and Bob Coulson in 1965.
John Lees originally bought the company in 2002 and is once again the sole owner of the business.
He said the company is going back to its roots to concentrate on civil, structural and marine projects after the company restructured in March.
The firms clients include Heerema, Tata Steel, PD Ports and Middlesbrough Football Club.
Mr Lees, the owner and managing director, said: “Since the company reorganised in March we’ve been picking up new orders every week.
“We urgently need more engineers, designers, drafts people and graduates/trainees to meet this demand.
“It’s business as usual for us. I have excellent people with the same long-standing experience working for me, people who our regular clients trust.
“Our reputation is quickly gaining us new business as well.
“We feel like we are a success story in an uncertain economic climate, and it’s good to be looking for new staff, rather than having to lay people off.”
The firm is based at Belasis Hall Technology Park, off Belasis Avenue, in Billingham.
The company’s commitment to engineering excellence is endorsed by one of its main clients, leading logistics and supply chain specialist, AV Dawson.
Managing director Gary Dawson said: “SCCE have provided an excellent service for us during the last 35 years, and they have, deservedly, a reputation within the engineering sector for delivering on projects to the highest standard.”
