A SHOPPING centre has welcomed the addition of a new store that has opened for business.
Furniture Express has opened a branch in Hartlepool’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre creating three new jobs.
The store takes up 2,600 square feet of the shopping centre that was previously empty.
It is the first store to open in the shopping mall since it came under the management of firm JLL which says they expect more retailers to come to Middleton Grange this year.
Furniture Express managers say they have been overwhelmed with public response since they opened.
Store owner Michael Currell said: “Since opening on Good Friday we’ve been overwhelmed with the number of customers that have come through our doors.
“On our first weekend we even had people queuing past the entrance with shoppers coming from all over the region.”
Furniture Express chose to come to Hartlepool following the success of their Stockton branch.
It sells a wide range of mainly British made furniture from sofas and beds to wardrobes and coffee tables.
Michael added: “it’s all about offering the customer a bespoke and convenient service.
“We strive to always put the customer first by understanding their individual needs.”
Shopping centre bosses say the store’s arrival adds to the choice for shoppers in Hartlepool.
Middleton Grange manager, Mark Rycraft, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Furniture Express here as it strengthens the centre’s already popular retail mix.
“Offering both big high street names and smaller independent stores the arrival of Furniture Express will only help sustain our reputation as being one of the most popular retail destinations in the area.”
