FIRMS in Hartlepool and East Durham have been urged to apply for a grants fund before it runs out.
The Investment for Growth scheme can provide grants of up to 40 per cent to firms in the North East. It applies to companies which are looking at projects to help them grow their business, as well as create and safeguard jobs.
The fund has already supported more than 670 regional businesses since its launch last year.
It has awarded more than £2.6m of funding to projects ranging from product development to creation of new websites.
Fund managers are now urging businesses across the region to apply before funds run out.
One business which received the full 40 per cent of funding was North East software developer, Waymark IT which has developed specialist software for use in OFSTED inspections.
Commercial director Paul LofthouseT said: “It was easy to apply for, and came through very quickly.”
He added: “Launching a new product into a new market is extremely challenging, but we are confident that this will be the first of a number of products we develop for the education sector.”
