A Hartlepool firm has reached a milestone of helping more than 400 people to get a job.

Amacus runs an employability programme called Leapfrog – Jump Start Your Future. S December 2012, it has helped 423 delegates to find employment.

The programme, backed by Job Centre Plus, includes practical skills workshops, one-to-one coaching and a job matching service. Delegates chose an employability or self-employment pathway for further training and support.

It gives people a better chance of doing well in interviews, be good team players and understand employer expectations and the need for customer care.

Jason Ahmed Popal, from Hartlepool, attended the Leapfrog programme after being referred to Amacus from Job Centre Plus.

He got an apprenticeship with a local manufacturing company and found employment in a laboratory. He said: “Without Leapfrog I wouldn’t have identified this opportunity and therefore wouldn’t have my job. It was a really positive experience.”

The speed of success of the Amacus programme has been impressive.

In one case, Leapfrog delegate uploaded their CV and within minutes, they received a telephone call from a recruitment company saying there was a job starting the following week.

Amacus now has two offices in Hartlepool as well as one each in Bishop Auckland and Middlesbrough.

Managing director Christine Hall said the business has grown because it had a clear vision of where it was going.
