STAFF at a water treatment specialist are looking forward to the start of the holiday season – because it marks their busiest time of the year.
Hartlepool-based Hydrochem was set up in 1987 and is now the longest serving water treatment company in the region.
The firm has an impressive list of clients, including Bannatyne’s, Bourne Leisure and the Marriott Hotel chain, and has teams of specialists working at sites across the UK on a daily basis.
And with summer fast approaching, the Bourne Leisure contract – which includes maintaining more than 30 Haven Holiday parks around the UK – is keeping the firm’s team of engineers busy.
General manager Linda Hannah said: “We’re coming up to the holiday season now, so this is a really busy time for us.
“This is what we class as start-up month, as the sites are closed between October and February so everything needs to be checked before they re-open to the public.”
The business specialises in inspecting water systems, diagnosing problems and then supplying solutions for boilers, heaters, air conditioning units, pipeworks and other water-based equipment as well as the likes of swimming pools and spas.
Linda added: “Once the season starts, we will be at each of the sites on a monthly basis to make sure everything is continually up to standard.”
Hydrochem, which expanded its team to 20 earlier this year, has had a good start to 2015 with some new orders coming in and the relationships with existing clients going from strength to strength.
“We run our year from January to December, and we have had a strong first quarter,” Linda added. “We are on target to do better than last year which is pleasing, and the next few months are mapped out for us and we’re in a strong position moving forward.”
