A lettings agency is celebrating its tenth anniversary with plans to continue growing.
Jackson & Copeland is based in York Road in Hartlepool and director Jonathan Copeland said: “We started off in Raby Road at the height of the market and moved to York Road on a first floor when the market had changed.”
We are looking to take on an apprentice after the summer. It will be an apprentice letting agent, giving them a chance to start off in the industry and hopefully get a full-time jobJonathan Copeland, director of Jackson & Copeland
The recession saw several other agencies leave the town but Mr Copeland said: “We kept hold of our core houses that we maintained, and over the last year and a half, things have really picked up.”
And the firm which started in 2005 with ten properties has “now grown to one of the largest letting agents in the region managing over 350 properties,” he added.
Jackson & Copeland is now based in a large ground floor unit in York Road, It employs five members of staff in the office, with two in the field.
But the numbers are about to expand. Mr Copeland explained: “We are looking to take on an apprentice after the summer. It will be an apprentice letting agent, giving them a chance to start off in the industry and hopefully get a full-time job.”
He explained why the business was doing so well.
“We have a good working environment and the hard work that people put in shows by the end of the year.”
Mr Copeland said the firm also worked with entirely locally based contractors such as small family owned firms “which is another reason why we have been successful”.
As well as taking on an apprentice, the firm’s future may also include expansion - both into another office as well as expanding its base in York Road.
