A HEALTH chief has joined forces with his daughters to launch a family business.

Steve Wallace, 52, the chairman of NHS Hartlepool, proudly unveiled Ready Steady Grow! last week, as a new town nursery for children aged up to eight-years-old.

The daycare centre, in Elwick Road, for up to 45 youngsters is being run by Steve with his daughters Helen, 25, and Caroline Blackwood-Wallace, 22.

And to continue the family links, mum Lynn Blackwood, 52, – who works as an infection control matron for the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust – is helping with advice on how to avoid bugs and infections.

Helen is the manager with her sister as deputy manager. Dad Steve runs the business side of the operation as well as being one of the chefs.

Steve said: “I am incredibly proud of Helen and Caroline. They are determined to provide the very best in childcare and I know they will succeed.”

Helen said: “Both Caroline and I are qualified and experienced in childcare, and have talked for years about opening our own nursery.

“Going into partnership with our dad, who will work on the business side of the company, leaves us free to concentrate on providing the very best service for both children and their parents.”

Caroline said: “We have what we think is the best nursery site in Hartlepool. As well as our own extensive and mature grounds, we are almost in the Burn Valley Gardens and directly opposite Eldon Grove School.”
