A 17-BEDROOM hotel in Hartlepool has gone up for sale.

The Douglas Hotel in Grange Road is on the market for a freehold value of £395,000 or £10,000 leasehold with the sale being handled by Newcastle-based business agents Christie and Co.

David Lee, the director and location manager at Christie, said: “Our client has owned the property for the last five years and has let it to a third party for the last two.

“He is now looking to either re-let it to a new tenant or sell the freehold of the building with vacant possession. The hotel is definitely one of the best of its type in the area.”

The hotel is a three-storey, end-of-terrace building with a ground floor restaurant which can seat 36 diners.

Mr Lee added: “This has been on the market for just over a week but we have already had interest. There has been a viewer, but these are early days and it is still available.

“It is impossible to say when it might change hands, but we are hopeful of a quick result.”
