SUPERMARKET chain Iceland is to open a new store in Hartlepool with the creation of 20 jobs.
The store will be located on the town’s Tees Bay Retail Park, off Brenda Road.
Jobs are being advertised for 16 floor staff, two cleaners and two drivers.
Hartlepool Voluntary Development Agency’s (HVDA) Volunteer Centre posted a recruitment notice, calling on people to apply for the jobs.
The recruitment drive is running until Friday, September 12.
It says: “New Iceland store – Hartlepool. As most of you will know Iceland are again recruiting for a new store to be opened on Tees Bay Retail Park early October.
“There are 20 jobs on offer; 16 floor Staff, 2 Cleaners and 2 Drivers.
“Vacancies will go live on Tuesday 26th August until 12th Sept.”
It provides a link to the job application, but says alternatively, jobseekers can go to the Jobcentreplus centre and pick up an application form.
The post also says applications are limited to 500.
A spokeswoman for Iceland would only say it was too early to comment, as there was no opening date yet confirmed for the store.
The retail park has had mixed fortunes in recent years, with UK Superbowl which was based on the site closing suddenly in November, last year.
But the closure came on the same day that plans to breathe new life into the park were revealed.
This included news of plans for bargain chain Home Bargains to take over the unit, and the park’s owners Mason & Partners confirming that a planning application was lodged that will “completely transform” the retail park.
And The Range made the site its home in 2012.
Iceland already has two branches in town, one at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, and the other off Winterbottom Avenue.
