THREE women have combined more than three decades of experience in the barber trade to launch their first business.

Colleagues and friends Christine Hall, 41, Lisa Hunt, 39, and Paula Grainger, 29, had already worked together for years in a barber’s in Murray Street, Hartlepool.

But they decided to go it alone and set up The Barber Shop in Elwick Road, also in the town.

Mum-of-two Christine, from Hartlepool, said: “We wanted to give it a go and we were more excited than nervous. I have worked with Lisa for eight years and Paula for five and I had been in Murray Street for 19 years.

“But this is our first go into business on our own and we set it up between us without any outside support. We have funded it ourselves and we have transformed the building from an off licence into what it is now.”

Christine added: “It was an extremely nice feeling when we walked into our own place.

“We are all hard-working people and we are all really willing to give this a good go.”
