A BUSINESSMAN is planning a training course which will be a “first” in the region.

Ian Jobling is one of two finalists in the Hartlepool Mail-backed If we can, you can challenge along with Julie Stout who runs Just Out Marketing.

They are both bidding over the next four weeks to persuade the public to vote for them.

Earlier this week, Julie told how she first made her move into business.

Today, Ian used his first plea to reveal his plans for a training course focussing on innovation.

His firm, Castle Eden-based Product Revolution, has launched a new course called Build Competencies and Drive Innovation. It equips people with skills to become an innovation champion at their workplace.

He said: “One of the most important tasks facing any organisation looking for growth is to understand the true meaning of innovation and embrace it at an individual and organisational level”.

Dad-of-two Ian previously worked in a £50,000-plus job in the product design trade and left to form his own company last September.

Product Revolution’s projects have included packaging for children’s table-wear, through to developing plastic moulded components for the food industry.

His firm is now one of the region’s fastest growing product design and innovation companies.

He said: “With the emergence of economies like China and India, it is getting tough for western companies to compete. We need to innovate or die”.

Mail readers can vote over the next four weeks for their favourite finalist by texting ‘Vote’ followed by the name of your chosen finalist to 07624803199, texts will be charged at your normal network rate.

You can vote also online by visiting www.ifwecanyoucan.co.uk/challenge and clicking ‘Vote’ on the profile of the person you want to win.

The public vote will then be combined with the judges’ scores to determine the overall winner.

That winner will be announced revealed in the Mail on Monday, June 20.
