AN INTERIORS company has combined its factory and showroom after moving into new premises.
Borthwick Exclusive Interiors bought premises on Burn Road, Hartlepool, in 2008 and used it to house machinery.
Now it is also home to a range of kitchen, bathroom and bedroom showrooms.
Customers who buy kitchens and bedrooms will be able to look round the showrooms and also see the product they have bought being made in the factory.
The new premises, which cost £100,000, were launched by Hartlepool MP Iain Wright last month.
Managing director Jamie Borthwick, 30, who started the company in 2002, said feedback has already been very positive.
Jamie, a former Brierton School and Hartlepool Sixth Form pupil, was studying at Newcastle University when he set up the firm.
He acquired a unit in Brougham Enterprise Centre in 2004 and started to expand.
Jamie said: “We got the premises in Burn Road in 2008 but it has taken us three years to get where we are now and we are pleased with how it’s looking. Customers seem very impressed.”
The company originally sold marble and granite workshops. Kitchen, bathroom and bedroom ranges were launched in July last year.
The firm, which employs 10 people and is taking on two more next month, now has kitchens on offer ranging from £2,000 to £70,000.
Jamie said: “We wanted to tell people we do have kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms and they are manufactured here in our factory.
Jamie lives with wife Sarah, 30, and sons James, 10, and Matthew, six, in the Hart Lane area of Hartlepool.
He said: “We have ploughed £100,000 of our profits into the project and another £50,000 on new machinery.
“The best thing about our new premises is customers can have a look around the showroom and then we can show them into the factory where the kitchens and bedrooms are made.
“It isn’t just a case of buying from someone who has got a shop front.”
