A chartered accountants and business advisers has invested in the future by taking on an apprentice.

The new recruit to Waltons Clark Whitehill is Jamie Gibbon, who has joined the Hartlepool firm as an apprentice accounting technician.

The former English Martyr School student completed his AS Levels this summer.

Now, he has joined Waltons Clark Whitehill’s small business unit.

Jamie, who lives in Hartlepool, will receive on the job training to support the firm in its accounts and tax work for clients across the Tees Valley.

Heather O’Driscoll, managing director of Waltons Clark Whitehill, said: “It is fantastic to have the opportunity to develop local talent, such as Jamie.”

She added: “Waltons Clark Whitehill has a proud history in Hartlepool, which goes back to the 19th Century shipping industry and has seen the firm expand to work with a broad range of businesses across the Tees Valley.”

The firm believes in investing in people from the area.

Heather added: “We have Tees Valley people throughout the firm and our clients like to deal with local people who are experts in their field, so young people like Jamie represent an investment in the future of the firm and its position in the regional market.”
