AN ambitious law graduate has joined a Hartlepool law firm – and told how it was the first step on his path to his dream career.
Jonathan Wall is the latest recruit at Tilly Bailey & Irvine where he has joined as a paralegal.
He has started work in the commercial department and will begin by working initially within its commercial property team.
It’s a great move for Jonathan who graduated from his legal practice course at Liverpool John Moores University last year, and has since been working for the ESH Group, the Bowburn-based construction firm in the Durham area.
Jonathan said: “Tilly Bailey & Irvine’s commercial team are not only knowledgeable and experienced, but also extremely friendly and welcoming, and I am delighted to join the team.”
He admitted there were fewer solicitors’ training posts available in the current economic climate, but Jonathan added: “My aim is to progress from paralegal to a training role and from there to fully qualified commercial solicitor. Joining Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors is the first step towards my planned career.”
Martin Levinson, partner with Tilly Bailey & Irvine, praised Jonathan’s application to join the firm as “impressive.”
He said it was “matched by his enthusiasm. Whilst we have no training roles immediately available, we were keen to bring him in as a paralegal, and we are confident he will be taking up a training contract in the future.
“The current economic position means that law firms across the country are unable to offer the numbers of training contracts they might have previously, so graduates are required to be more resourceful.”
He said Jonathan has gained skills which would “help him in his future legal career.”
Tilly Bailey & Irvine has offices in Hartlepool, Wynyard Park, Stockton and Barnard Castle.
