A SHOPPING centre manager has been judged as the best in his field.
Mark Rycraft, from the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre in Hartlepool, has won the Centre Manager of the Year (Large) at the SCEPTRE awards, at The Dorchester in London.
The competition attracted entries from places including Manchester, Leeds, London, Telford and Hull.
Mr Rycraft won the Centre Manager of the Year (Large) from a shortlist which also included The Galleries in Washington and the intu Victoria Centre in Nottingham.
He said: “It was a humbling experience and a very proud moment. It was a shock to win. I can not do what I do, as well as I do it, without a good strong management team which is inspirational and makes me proud.”
The competition was judged on factors such as how shopping centres get involved with the community, how they interact with the retailers, and visits to the centre.
Middleton Grange’s entry highlighted its schemes such as its children’s club called Snapper Jaxx, its work on behalf of the Bradley Lowery Neuroblastoma Fight Group, and its free training courses, where retailers can learn more about topics such as increasing sales and improved customer service.
