The new franchise holder for Hartlepool’s McDonald’s branches is planning even more investment and jobs.

Jasper Maudsley has taken over the franchise of the Hartlepool Marina, Burn Road and Middleton Grange Shopping Centre branches and – as previously reported in the Hartlepool Mail – has already created an extra 10 jobs.

But there are more are on the way and that will include numbers at the Marina branch increasing from 87 to 100 by Christmas, with all the positions filled by this autumn.

And Mr Maudsley promised: “They won’t be short-term contracts. We shall be keeping these people on.”

The extra staff are needed at a branch where a state-of-the-art new brand called Experience of the Future is proving a winner.

It includes self-order kiosks, new kitchen lay-outs, and free-to-use tablets at some tables for customers.

A new training room will be created at the branch on Hartlepool Marina.

It will be called the Centre of Excellence and it will be used to train all staff in the area on the Experience of the Future brand.

Jasper has been a franchisee for more than 17 years and now has 10 outlets – two in Washington, four in Sunderland and one at Dalton Park, as well as the three in Hartlepool.

Next year, there will be further investment, this time in the Burn Road branch, which will also get Experience of the Future as well as new drive-through facilities so it can cater for two cars at once.

The Burn Road investment will mean 10 more jobs for Hartlepool.
