A BUSINESS boss has changed the name of her hairdressing salon - but the long-standing reputation for quality remains exactly the same.

Alison Pringle’s Headland-based salon is now known as Hair@150 after the changeover.

It’s the first change in years for Alison who said she felt the time was right for a rebrand.

But that’s all that is alterating for the business which is based at the Brunswick Shops and now has six staff including a Saturday girl.

Alison believes success is down to a number of factors for the salon which has been going strong for 28 years.

“It is down to hard work,” she said. “That’s hard work by me and my staff. It’s also good management and a good team behind me.”

Another part of the success story is the clientele and Alison added: “Some of them are like my family. Without them, we would not be where we are.”

The firm has come through worldwide recessions as well as boom times and Alison said: “I have managed to keep going for 28 years and surviving through all the ups and downs.”

Alison has always worked in hairdressing and started out by training in Binns in Hartlepool.

“I had good training with good standards and once I went out of there, it took off.

“I went from strength to strength with the support of my clients.”

Alison believes in developing staff through apprenticeships and has twice had members of her team chosen as apprentices of the year at Hartlepool College of Further Education in the last three years.

“I take on apprentices every year,” said Alison. The latest success story was Sheldan Dodd who won the apprentice of the year title last year and now has her qualifications.

Alison said her aims for the future were “to keep the company going for as long as I can with good staff and good support”.
