On course for success

AN awards night is still on course to become a record breaker with a steady stream of companies signing up in a bid to become winners.

Numerous companies are asking for entry packs from the organisers of the Hartlepool Business awards, says John Megson, the co-ordinator of the event.

But more firms are needed to match last year’s impressive numbers of competitors.

Mr Megson said: “Whilst numbers of businesses requesting the entry packs is good, we still need more to achieve the numbers of previous years.

“There are a number of new companies entering, but there are still categories which need more entries including retail, manufacturing and export.”

In this year’s competition, 10 category winners will receive £1,000 prizes, and one overall winner will secure £2,000 as Business of the Year.

The results will be announced during the awards evening at the Borough Hall on Hartlepool’s Headland, on Thursday, May 19.

Categories for 2011 are Retailer of the Year, Service Sector, Manufacturer of the Year, Most Promising New Business, Exporter of the Year,Community, Investment in Training, Innovation and Technology; Tourism and leisure; Environment and the overall title of Business of the Year.

Application forms are available from the Hartlepool Enterprise Centre, in Brougham Terrace.

Firms can also enter online by logging on to www.hartlepoolbusinessforum.co.uk or www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk

The closing date for entries is Tuesday, March 8, 2011.

Tickets for the awards evening cost £35 each which includes a three-course dinner.
