A store giant has announced a date for its jobs-boosting move to a new Hartlepool location.
M&S is relocating to Hartlepool Marina, but it will also mean the end to the national chain’s 46-year link with the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.
M&S first started trading in Hartlepool in the mid-1890s as the original penny bazaar and in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre from 1969. We are delighted to be opening a new M&S Foodhall where our employees from the existing store will transfer toAndrea Maxwell, store manager
The new M&S Foodhall Hartlepool will open its doors to customers on Wednesday, June 17. Store manager Andrea Maxwell and all 80 staff, including 20 new arrivals, will be welcoming customers from 10am.
The 8,000 sq ft store at the Anchor Retail Park in Hartlepool Marina will provide shoppers with more than 4,500 food and drink lines.
Customers will also have a 50 seater cafe, and there is also an in-store bakery.
The opening of M&S Foodhall Hartlepool will see the existing M&S store in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre close on Tuesday, June 16.
All of the staff will transfer to the new Hartlepool Marina location.
Andrea said: “M&S first started trading in Hartlepool in the mid-1890s as the original penny bazaar and in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre from 1969.
“We are delighted to be opening a new M&S Foodhall, where our employees from the existing store will transfer to.
“We’re looking forward to providing our customers with a new and improved shopping experience and hope that lots of people will be able to join us on June 17 for the official opening.”
The new store will provide shoppers with free car parking, a food ordering service, and the Shop Your Way service, which gives customers the opportunity to order from the full M&S catalogue in-store or online.
